The VECO-Isotherm rod system
The requirements for thermal insulation of the building envelope are constantly increasing. From the point of view of construction physics, it is not only the wall construction itself that is important, but also to a particular extent the punctual thermal bridges according to DIN EN 6946 in the form of the wall brackets.
With the VECO-Isotherm, GIP has developed a passive-house certified wall anchor that fulfils the highest requirements in regards to building physics, due to the fire protection classification of A1, can also be used in all planning and building classes with peace of mind.
In addition to the typical applications (in concrete and masonry), the VECO®-Isotherm rod system can also be used safely in the drywall exterior wall systems that are becoming increasingly established on the market.
Energy efficiency
Wall brackets in facades are a relatively small component, but due their continous use in the facade surface, their influence on the effective total U-value (Ueff.) of the external building should not be neglected. Thus, the termal bridge allowance (ΔU) for conventional wall bracket systems often exceed the U-value of the undisturbed wall (Uunge.).
Ueff. = Untreated outer wall + Substructure
With the energy-optimised VECO-Isotherm rod system, the thermal bridge surcharge can be reduced by over 70 % compared to classic L-shaped stainless-steel brackets. This means lower insulation thicknesses with a much slimmer wall construction and thus, more living space inside.

A calculation for a required U-value of Uerf ≤ 0.24 W/(m2K) with 2.5 wall brackets per m2 illustrates the influence of the selected wall bracket system on the wall construction. The use of the VECO®-Isotherm rod system can reduce the required wall thickness. This reduces the thermal insulation thickness from 36 cm to 14 cm compared to a version with aluminium wall brackets and thus contributes to a significant space gain in new building projects.

Advantages at a glance
Installation
1. Marking and setting the dowels
Plastic facade anchor with thread on the screw head
2. Screwing on the stainless steel rod extention
Use the cordless screwdriver to mount the rod with the use of an allen key.
3. Fixed point – mounting the diagonal reinforcement band
Mount the band with pre-mounted adapter over the planned fixed point rod with normal plastic facade anchors.
4. Mounting the thermal insulation
The insulation can easily be installed over the rod. In the area of the diagonal reinforcement, a simple straight cut is sufficient.
5. Set insulation holders
6. Mounting the wing adapters
Easy unscrewing of the wings with cordless screwdriver (Normal bit can be used for slotted screw heads).
7. Mounting the vertical profiles
The vertical profiles are first fixed to the wing adapters with the help of a helping hand spring or separately available gripping pliers, then aligned vertically and screwed centrally in the longer oval holes.
8. Mounting the facade panels
The pre-drilled panels are riveted to the vertical profiles with fixed / sliding points according to the joint plan.
Applications
The VECO-Isotherm system offers standard solutions for fastening all commercially available facade cladding materials. Installation is possible on all common substrates, whether they are the typical anchoring substrates such as concrete, wood, stone or concrete or masonry brick, but also in more unusual situations, e. g. steel, wood or drywall exterior wall systems, the system offers individual application possibilities and thus stands out from other thermal bridge-optimised systems.
